Adacel Side Effects

Serious Side Effects

There are a number of possible side effects with Adacel that you should report to your healthcare provider. These include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Severe shoulder and/or upper arm pain (which may be a sign of a problem known as brachial neuritis)
  • Severe arm swelling
  • Weakness, tingling, or paralysis (which may be signs of Guillain-Barré syndrome)
  • A high fever
  • Any behavior changes
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:

 

    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Swelling of the mouth or throat
    • Wheezing
    • Difficulty breathing.

 

Final Thoughts

It is possible that you may experience some or none of the side effects listed in this article. Unfortunately, there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand if you will have side effects from a vaccine.
 
Therefore, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you develop any problems after receiving Adacel or if something "just does not seem right." While it may not be an Adacel side effect, your healthcare provider will be able to diagnose and treat the problem.
