Amoxicillin/Clavulanate Potassium ES

Amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium ES is available by prescription only and is used for treating ear infections in children. This antibiotic contains two active ingredients, and it works by preventing bacteria from building cell walls (which eventually kills the bacteria). It comes in the form of a liquid and is usually taken twice a day. Common side effects include diarrhea, vomiting, and diaper rash.

Amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium ES (Augmentin ES®) is a prescription antibiotic approved to treat persistent or recurrent ear infections in children. The "ES" stands for "extra strength."

What Are the Side Effects?

As with any medicine, amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium ES may cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, many people tolerate it quite well.
