Atrovent Nasal Spray

A healthcare provider may prescribe Atrovent nasal spray for a runny nose that is caused by the common cold, allergies, or other causes. Atrovent nasal spray is typically taken two to four times daily and works by decreasing the fluid production in the glands that line the nasal passages. Most people tolerate the medication well. However, there are potential side effects, such as nosebleeds, a sore throat, and headaches.

What Is Atrovent Nasal Spray?

Atrovent^®nasal spray (ipratropium nasal spray) is a prescription medication used to treat a runny nose. Atrovent 0.06% nasal spray is approved to treat a runny nose that is caused by either the common cold or seasonal allergies. Atrovent 0.03% nasal spray is approved to treat a runny nose that occurs all year long (due to allergies or other causes). Atrovent nasal spray does not help treat nasal congestion or sneezing.
