You and Your Baby at 9 Weeks
Around this time, your baby will be awake for more of the daytime hours, so you two will have more time to really get to know each other. You may notice that your baby is starting to use her voice and making some serious effort to communicate vocally with you.
Respond to her burbles -- as if you are having a conversation. Doing so will help her learn so much about you, language, and the art of conversation. It is going to be so fun watching her discover a little more each day!
The Developmental Milestones of a 9-Week-Old Infant
Right about now, your little one might be tackling one of the biggest early
developmental milestones -- rolling over. Usually rolling from the tummy to the back comes first because there is less strength involved. At first, it will most likely happen by accident -- during tummy time, when she pushes herself up from her hands, all it takes is a little extra weight from that heavy head, and she may just topple over to the side, making her first roll.
During tummy time and any other time at which your baby might be on her tummy, be especially vigilant in making sure that there is no chance that she could roll over and hurt herself. You two are heading into some new territory as strength and curiosity are building. Your goal is to stay at least one step ahead of the game!
