Comvax Drug Interactions

Comvax Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Comvax is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
Caution should be used when giving intramuscular injections -- including Comvax -- to individuals taking anticoagulant medications (commonly known as "blood thinners"). Make sure your healthcare providers (including the nurse giving the vaccine) know that your child is taking an anticoagulant.
If your child is taking an immunosuppressant, he or she may not receive the full benefit of Comvax, since the immune system may not be fully capable of responding to the vaccine.
In addition, with some vaccines (especially live vaccines), people taking immunosuppressants may be at a higher risk of actually developing the infection from the vaccine, although in a milder form. However, because Comvax is not a live vaccine, this is not a problem.

Final Thoughts

It is possible that not all Comvax drug interactions were discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about any specific interactions that may apply to you.
