It is unlikely for drug interactions to occur with
Desitin® diaper rash ointments. However, be sure to mention Desitin when your child's healthcare provider asks about any measures you have taken to treat diaper rash. Knowing what has worked (and what has not) will help the healthcare provider know how to best treat a stubborn diaper rash.
If your healthcare provider recommends a different product (perhaps even a prescription medication), be sure to ask if you should continue to use Desitin or not (and if you should apply both products at the same time). In general, it is usually unnecessary to apply two products, and Desitin could potentially reduce the effectiveness of the other medications (particularly if it is applied first, since it works as a barrier).
