Desitin® is a medicine that is approved for the treatment and prevention of
diaper rash. It is a brand of diaper rash products that are available over-the-counter (OTC). There are three different ointments in this line of products, including Desitin Original
™ ointment, Desitin Creamy
® ointment, and Desitin Clear
™ ointment.
Desitin Original and Desitin Creamy ointments are approved for the following uses:
- Treating and preventing diaper rash
- Sealing out wetness and providing a barrier to protect the skin
- Creating an optimal environment for skin healing.
Desitin Clear is approved for a wider variety of uses, including:
- Treating and preventing diaper rash
- Relieving dry, chapped skin
- Soothing and relieving minor skin irritations and rash discomfort
- Protecting chafed skin and sealing out wetness
- Protecting from the drying effects of wind and cold weather
- Temporarily protecting minor cuts, scrapes, and burns.
