Playtime Safety

Baby Toys and Safety

While lead content and mercury traces are headline grabbers, the biggest sources of danger with baby toys are the small items that can be swallowed. Because of their tiny airways, limited strength, and inability to cough out lodged items, infants are at a greater risk of choking.

To decrease the chances of this happening, any toy in your child's playtime area with small parts or that can be broken into smaller pieces should be removed. Also, keep a watchful eye out for any and all small items that might fall into your baby's playtime area.
