Traveling With a Baby

Less Is More
Only pack what you cannot live without. After the first few trips, you'll be amazed at how little you actually really need. Babies do require a lot of "stuff." You want your infant to be safe, happy, and comfortable -- but not at the expense of your back. There are certain items that are more important than others.
Your baby definitely needs a safe place to sleep and a safe way to travel. Some car safety seats double as infant carriers and are the perfect spot for a nap at any time. Try to think about the items you use the most at home and how you can actually get more "mileage" from them.
Be Prepared
For this one, you will need to get in touch with your inner boy scout. Always be prepared. Sounds easier said than done, but traveling doesn't need to be difficult. You know your baby better than anyone else.
You know what sets them off and what brings them back to earth. Try to think of three things that are reliable soothers for your baby. Maybe it's the pacifier, your cell phone, and a musical toy. Your selections should have these qualities:
  • It has reliably stopped your baby from crying in the past
  • It has the ability to keep your baby content for a good period of time
  • It is not too cumbersome to travel with (i.e., a bouncy-seat or play-gym).
Good luck and happy traveling!
