IPOL Drug Interactions

IPOL Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when IPOL is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
Caution should be used when giving intramuscular injections (including IPOL) to individuals taking anticoagulant medications (commonly known as "blood thinners"). Make sure your healthcare providers (including the nurse giving the vaccine) know that your child is taking an anticoagulant.
It should be noted that this vaccine can be given subcutaneously (just under the skin) instead of intramuscularly, which eliminates the problem altogether.
If you are taking an immunosuppressant, you may not receive the full benefit of IPOL. With some vaccines (especially live vaccines), people taking immunosuppressants may be at a higher risk of actually developing the infection (usually a mild form) from the vaccine. However, because IPOL is not a live vaccine, this is not a problem.

Final Thoughts on Drug Interactions With IPOL

It is possible that not all interactions with IPOL were discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about any drug interactions that may apply to you.
