Gatifloxacin (
Zymar®,
ZymaxidTM) is used for bacterial cases of conjunctivitis -- more commonly known as
pink eye. This medicine comes in the form of an eye drop and is used anywhere from two to eight times a day for seven days. The specific dose a person is prescribed will depend on the severity of the infection and the particular gatifloxacin product being used.
Prior to using gatifloxacin, inform your healthcare provider about any other medical conditions you have and any other drugs you are taking (including nonprescription products). Although gatifloxacin is not likely to interfere with other medications (or vice versa), it is not appropriate for all situations.
