Isotretinoin for Acne

One of the most severe types of acne is nodular acne. It is characterized by large, painful, solid lesions that are lodged deep within the skin. If other acne treatments have not worked for your nodular acne, your healthcare provider may recommend a drug called isotretinoin (Accutane®, Absorica™, Amnesteem™, Claravis™, Sotret®). Although it can be a very effective medication, isotretinoin is extremely dangerous for pregnant women, and there are strict rules and regulations for prescribing and dispensing it.
