Tessalon Medication Information
Tessalon® (benzonatate) is a cough suppressant approved for adults and children as young as 10 years old. It comes in two strengths (100 mg and 200 mg) and is available in brand-name and generic forms. The most common side effects of Tessalon include constipation, nausea, and a "chilly" sensation.
The medication comes in the form of liquid-filled gel capsules. It is meant to be taken by mouth, up to three times daily. Make sure to swallow Tessalon whole; never chew or suck the capsules, as doing so could cause serious reactions.
