You and Your 7-Month-Old Baby
Seven-month-old babies want to test out their new mobility skills. Your baby may or may not have mastered the crawl yet, but he will soon!!!
Some babies learn that they can get to where they want to go by rolling or shimmying. Some even crawl backwards before they can go forwards. No matter how strange or funny the crawl-style your baby comes up with is, rest assured it will not translate into a funny walk or run. They are learning and they'll get there at their own pace, even if they arrive backwards!
Major Developments for a 7-Month-Old Infant
Seven-month-old babies are pretty amazing little creatures. Before you know it, your little guy will be able to pull himself up to a standing position. When it happens, watch how proud he is of himself -- it is quite the achievement.
Another new development that you might be seeing these days is waving. If you are likely to wave hello and good-bye to the people around you, then your little one might pick up on that fun trick. Lots of babies try to wave bye-bye by waving back at themselves.
A 7-month-old baby boy, on average, will weigh in at 18 1/2 pounds and the average baby girl will weigh about 17 pounds. The boys in the 50th percentile for height will top the charts at 27 inches "tall." A 7-month-old average baby girl will measure up to 26½ inches.
