Final Thoughts

An important thing to remember about the stages of language development in children is that once a stage is reached, the sounds from the previous stages can always reappear and continue, although less frequently as the development continues. In other words, you can hear "la-la-la" after the single-word stage is reached, but probably not as often as you heard it three months earlier.
