Who Should Not Get Pediarix?

Your child should not receive Pediarix if he or she has:
  • Had a serious reaction to Pediarix or any component of the vaccine (including the inactive ingredients, such as neomycin, polymyxin B, or yeast). Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
  • A progressive neurological disorder, such as uncontrolled epilepsy (unless the condition is being adequately treated).
  • Had a serious reaction to any pertussis-containing vaccine in the past. Serious reactions (occurring within seven days of vaccination) might include:
    • Coma
    • Unconsciousness
    • Prolonged seizures.
