PedvaxHIB Side Effects

Reactions With PedvaxHIB to Report

There are a number of rare but serious side effects with PedvaxHIB or other childhood vaccines that you should report to your child's healthcare provider. These include, but are not limited to:
  • A high fever
  • Any unusual behavior changes (aside from the usual fussiness that typically occurs after vaccinations)
  • A seizure
  • Collapsing
  • Persistent, inconsolable crying lasting for three hours or more
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Swelling of the mouth or throat
    • Wheezing
    • Difficulty breathing.

Final Thoughts

Your child may experience some or none of the PedvaxHIB side effects listed in this article. Unfortunately, there is no way for your child's healthcare provider to know beforehand if your child will have problems with a particular vaccine.
Therefore, make sure to let the healthcare provider know if your child develops any side effects after receiving the vaccination. Also, let your child's healthcare provider know if something "just does not seem right." While it may not be a side effect, the healthcare provider will be able to diagnose and treat the problem, or provide reassurance if nothing is the matter.
