Pimecrolimus Cream

By suppressing the immune system, pimecrolimus (Elidel®) can help relieve the symptoms of mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis (eczema). This prescription medication is approved for use in adults and children as young as two years old.

Pimecrolimus comes as a cream and is available in one strength. The dosage is the same for everyone, regardless of age. This standard dose is a thin layer of pimecrolimus cream applied to the affected areas of the skin twice daily.

Headaches, coughing, and burning at the application site are some of the possible side effects of this medicine. Pimecrolimus may not be suitable for people who are taking certain medications or who have certain allergies. Also, it is important to tell your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before starting treatment.
