Prevnar 13

Dosing Information

There is only one standard recommended dose for this vaccine, although the exact vaccine "schedule" varies, depending on the age of the individual at the first dose (see Prevnar 13 Dosage for more information).

Side Effects of Prevnar 13

Just like any vaccine, Prevnar 13 may cause side effects. However, not everyone who receives the vaccine will experience problems. In fact, most children tolerate it well, with only minor side effects, if any.
If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can be treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
Some of the most common side effects seen with Prevnar 13 include but are not limited to:
  • Injection site reactions, such as redness, tenderness, or swelling
  • Irritability
  • Sleep changes.
(Click Prevnar 13 Side Effects to learn more, including potentially serious side effects you should report immediately to your healthcare provider.)

Drug Interactions

Prevnar 13 can potentially interact with a few medications or other vaccines (see Prevnar 13 Drug Interactions).
