Strep Thorat

Were you looking for information on Strep Throat? Strep thorat is a common misspelling of strep throat.

Caused by group A streptococcus bacteria (GAS or Streptococcus pyogenes), strep throat most often occurs in children between 5 and 15 years old. Possible symptoms include a red and painful throat that begins suddenly, a fever above 101ºF, and white patches on the tonsils or in the throat. Because it is a bacterial infection, strep throat is treated with antibiotics, usually penicillin. A person is no longer considered contagious after taking antibiotics for 24 hours.
