Strep Throt

It is a contagious, bacterial infection caused by group A streptococcus and is more common during the late fall, winter, and early spring. Possible symptoms include a red and painful throat that begins suddenly, a fever above 101ºF, and white patches on the tonsils or in the throat. Penicillin is the antibiotic of choice for treating most cases of this throat infection.
