If you have head lice, you may benefit from the prescription medication Ulesfia^® (benzyl alcohol lotion). This lotion is applied to the hair and scalp and works by paralyzing and suffocating lice. Because it is formulated to only kill adult lice, it is necessary to apply this medication two times (with seven days between doses). Possible side effects include skin irritation and numbness at the application side.
